IREC, what now?
Part -II-
September 27, 2014 - With their post from 18th of September, 2014, IREC intended to "expose the untruthful propaganda that the stray-dog mafia in Romania has unleashed upon Europe to dupe gullible foreign donors into donating millions of Euro"
It is said that the 'Sword of Truth' has two edges... It can scythe down all who seek to distort and refute, but it can also damage the deliverer who, although seeking integrity, is unworthy to wield it.
It is said that the 'Sword of Truth' has two edges... It can scythe down all who seek to distort and refute, but it can also damage the deliverer who, although seeking integrity, is unworthy to wield it.
We come to this place where a world is outraged at the treatment of living creatures in Romania. A world which knows that any maltreatment of the weak and feeble will also manifest itself within human society and between humans. The issue is societally impacting.
To depict a situation, but supporting this depiction with erroneous evidence... is distortion. To look into the eyes of truth and see nothing... is ignorance.
This presentation - justifiably criticised by IREC - was an unprofessional misrepresentation of the situation made by unprofessional activists. The photographic evidence was misleading. From a distant land, an attempt had been made to represent a situation but the supporting evidence was inappropriate. IREC were correct in highlighting this fact. The supporting evidence, although sparse, was inept and incorrect.
BUT the fundamental truth remains, and whilst ineptly represented from a foreign land, IREC, within Romania, looks into the eyes of truth but sees nothing. They see only a mirror image of propagandist ignorance, hatred and aggression, and in so doing demonstrates the ignorance which only serves to betray the development of a nation which continues to exist under the political yolk, which so inhibited the development of European standards wherein the rationale suggested by IREC would be anathema in any civilized country.
May we counter IREC’s propagandist ignorance by similarly agreeing with the use of inappropriate photos to support an existing situation, by presenting here, not a scarcity but a plethora of overwhelming evidence depicting the horrors of animal treatment in Romania. In so doing, may we suggest that in addition to displaying profound ignorance, IREC’s quest to distort truths, renders them as simply propagandist, unprofessional and derisory in the eyes of the civilized world...
The Reality of Romania
This dog got attacked by a maniac in Galati, end of October, 2013. The poor dog had been brutally hit on the head and the back. The ax had literally sectionned the dog's head in two. He was still alive when the good people from 'Help Labus' found him. He was taken to the vet but had to be euthanized as the injuries were just too severe. Please click here for more pictures (graphic) and the entire story.
Johanna was subjected to horrific abuse. She had her jaw shattered, teeth smashed, and sticks and dirt forcibly inserted into her anal area and mouth.
Grivitza, a female stray dog which lost her jaw after being attacked by an unidentified person, sits as veterinary doctor Iustin Girea operates an X-ray machine at a clinic in Bucharest, Romania.
In Romania, horses are neglected and abandoned, just as dogs are. This horse was found in Galati on 8th of January, 2014. The poor animal had no food nor water for two days and was left in agony with fractures in 3 places when members of the local NGO 'Help Labus' found him/her. Unfortunately, the poor horse could not be saved and had to be euthanized.
This picture was take in Popesti Leordeni on 17th of February, 2014 by Vier Pfoten. The young female dog was found on the bottom of a 6 meter deep sewer with a wire around her neck attached to a sack filled with rocks. The dog laid there at least one week, surviving only with a help of a local who threw her some food. Eventually the man contacted Speranta shelter to help the animal.
This dog was found on the streets of Romania early this year....with her eyes gouged out. She was later named Iulia and is currently being fostered in Luxembourg.
220 healthy dogs had been slaughtered in two hours time during the night from 11th of May, 2011 in the public shelter of Botosani
The above pictures where all taken in the public shelter of Radauti in October, 2011
The above pictures were taken in the public shelter in Oradea in January, 2013. For the entire 'story' please click here!
The above picture was taken on the municipal waste dump in Harsova on January 14th, 2014.
15-20 dogs who had previously been captured on the streets of Harsova where all put together in this cage. Of course, the dogs at the bottom did not survive the ordeal which as carried out with the "blessings" of the local mayor.

And as you, IREC, scream ever loudly for the blood of the animals, please consider the starkly contrasting attitudes of civilized nations and how your idiosyncratically driven propaganda serves to ensure that Romania remains hidden in the mists of medievalism.
As a contrast between Romanian society and the civilized world, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced this week that it will start reporting crimes of animal cruelty as a separate offense under its uniform reporting system, leading the way for more comprehensive statistics on animal abuse.
Previously, in the United States, crimes against animals were recorded under a generic “all other offense” category in the Uniform Crime Report, widely considered the most comprehensive source of crime statistics. Starting next year (2015), animal cruelty would be reported as a distinct category, along with major offenses like murder, assault and arson crimes.
Under the changes, animal cruelty would be considered a crime against society and a “Type A” offense with four categories:
- simple/gross neglect,
- intentional abuse and torture,
- organized abuse (such as dog and cock fighting)
- and animal sexual abuse
According to the FBI, the official definition of animal cruelty will be:
"Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly taking an action that mistreats or kills any animal without just cause, such as torturing, tormenting, mutilation, maiming, poisoning, or abandonment."
Included are instances of duty to provide care, e.g., shelter, food, water, care if sick or injured; transporting or confining an animal in a manner likely to cause injury or death; causing an animal to fight with another; inflicting excessive or repeated unnecessary pain or suffering, e.g., useing objects to beat or injure an animal.
To he who stands on the bridge of indecision as to the veracity and validity of such a society as advocated by IREC, if 'civilized' criteria as exemplified by the FBI were to be applied in Romania, half the Romanian population would be watching the world through prison bars.
But there indeed exists a stray dog mafia in Romania. Its members sit in the local municipalities, the ANSVSA, the ASPA and the companies that operate for them.
As with all mafioso units, no cognisance is given to anything other than achieving profitability.
Recommendations of world organisations: ignored.
Concerns of the EU: ignored.
Security and health of society: ignored.
Profitability remains the singular objective. A profitability based on the worst managed stray animal environment in the history of the European Union, and Europe. An environment which impacts on the HUMAN POPULATION with a SCALE and EFFECT hitherto unseen in Europe.
IREC, we invite you to encourage Romania to join the civilised world... not to encourage barbaric activities which are unacceptable in any modern civilised society.
But perhaps YOU are not yet ready for this?
